"Wait… you made this?”
I smiled. “Sort of.”
She looked around the room again. “I love that nothing really matches.”
“Exactly.”
There was a green velvet chair beside a worn wooden table. A colorful painting hung slightly off-center above the sofa. Books were stacked on the floor, a handmade vase sat on the mantel, and patterned pillows somehow made everything feel like it belonged together.
“It feels…” she paused, searching for the word. “Comfortable.”
“Good.”
“Like someone actually lives here.”
I laughed. “Someone does.”
She walked over to the painting. “Where did you find this?”
“From a local artist down the street.”
“And the chair?”
“Thrifted.”
“The pillows?”
“Those are mine.”
She turned toward me. “So you just put things you like together?”
“Not exactly. I think about how they work together. But I also want a room to have a little personality. A little history. A little surprise.”
She looked around once more.
“It feels like the room is telling me something.”
I smiled.
“That’s the idea.”
That little conversation is really what Home with Fara is about.
A home doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. It just needs to feel like it belongs to the people living in it.
Sometimes that means a mid-century chair. Sometimes it's a bold color, a strange little object you couldn't leave without, or artwork from someone in your own community. Sometimes it's simply making room for the things that make you feel at home.
Function. Art. Reflect. Authenticity.
That's Home with Fara.
And yes, the name comes from mine. But somewhere along the way, it became more than a name. It became a place for me to explore all the things that make me curious—interiors, painting, sewing, writing, and whatever creative idea comes next.
“Okay,” she said, sinking into the velvet chair.
“Yeah?”
“I think I’m going to stay awhile.”
I smiled.
“Make yourself comfortable.”
